A Planning Guide for Accessible Restrooms
This course will provide you with a basic understanding of: best practices in providing easy access and use for all restroom users, regardless of ability; the tools needed to properly plan an accessible restroom that will meet the requirements of the ADA and other standards; how accessibility standards accommodate a wide range of users; and how to design lavatories, toilet compartments, bathing facilities, and accessories to meet accessibility requirements. This course will provide you with an understanding of current toilet partition material fire code compliance requirements; how to select the most appropriate toilet partition material, hardware and mounting configuration based on building type; three ADA accessible toilet compartment layouts; and how to write toilet compartment specifications. This course will provide you with an understanding of multigenerational demographics, social trends and related restroom concepts that address those trends; multiple challenges and related solutions for multigenerational users; and an overview of the benefits of multigenerational design to various user types. This course reviews strategies through which architects can support their overall sustainability goals with an authentically green approach to building operation. Bobrick Washroom Equipment, Inc. is a registered provider with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education Systems (CES). Credits earned on completion of these programs will be reported to CES Records for AIA members. Certificates of Completion are available for recordkeeping and self-reporting purposes. These CEU courses are also registered with the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) for continuing education credits. This credit will be accepted by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), International Interior Designers Association (IIDA) and Interior Designers of Canada (IDC).
